The elections of village Akims (Mayors) will be held in Kazakhstan in August 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports citing deputy head of Kazakhstan Presidential Administration Gabidulla Abdrakhimov. “In line with the plan of events, we have to hold the elections before this September. So most probably the elections will be held in August,” Abdrakhimov told the journalists in Kazakhstan President’s State Administration Academy. He continued that the elections of village Akims will be held throughout the whole Kazakhstan. Maslikhat (local representative body) deputies will be voting for the candidates. “All village Akims have to be elected before September,” he added. Village Akims in Kazakhstan are normally appointed or selected by Maslikhat deputies. The elections to Maslikhats are held every five years. By Renat Tashkinbayev
