As of the end of the Q1 2014 the Netherlands left its first position in the rankings of largest investors into the Kazakhstan’s economy,  EastTime.ru reports. The UK has also cut down on its investments. As of the end of 2013, according to the Kazakhstan’s Central Bank, the Netherlands was the largest investor, with the FDI standing at $728.1 million in the Q4 2013 alone.

As of the end of the Q1 2014 the Netherlands left its first position in the rankings of largest investors into the Kazakhstan’s economy,  EastTime.ru reports. The UK has also cut down on its investments. As of the end of 2013, according to the Kazakhstan’s Central Bank, the Netherlands was the largest investor, with the FDI standing at $728.1 million in the Q4 2013 alone.

However, as of the end of Q1 2014, the Dutch investments into Kazakhstan is a negative value (-$104.1 million). In other words, for the first three months of 2014 the Netherlands withdrew almost $900 million out of equity participation schemes (excluding reinvested earnings).

Currently the list of largest investors is headed by the USA, with the investments for the period standing at $866.2 million, followed by Canada with the FDI figure of $279.8 million, and France with its $218.3 million in FDI.

Altogether, the FDI totaled $2 billion 221 million in the Q1 2014, with most of the funds being injected into the extraction industries (75.4% of all the FDI). $1.46 billion of the amount went to the O&G sector, with another $200 million being channeled into development of metallic ores, coal and lignite.
