Kazakhstan boxers won four medals in Halle International Boxing tournament, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Sportlive.kz. Serik Sapiyev won gold, Gani Zhailauov won silver, Adilbek Niyazymbetov and Danabek Suzhanov won bronze medals. The team of six boxers who have already qualified for the Olympic Games represented Kazakhstan in Halle. They were Kanat Abutalipov (56 kg), Gani Zhailauov (60 kg), Serik Spaiyev (69 kg), Danabek Suzhanov (75 kg), Adilbek Niyazymbetov (81 kg) and Ivan Dychko (91 kg). Halle tournament that was held for the 39th time this year and is the biggest international amateur boxing tournament. Usually it is held prior to the Olympic Games. The tournament was held in 1970 for the first time. Today this event is the main qualifying tournament prior to bigger competitions for national teams of Russia, France, UK, Ireland, Brazil, Italy, Romania, Turkey, the USA, Uzbekistan and others. There was no Ukrainian team among the participants. For the host-country this competition is the main national qualifying event prior to continental license qualifying championship that will be held in Turkey soon.
