Preliminary results of presidential elections

Today the Central Election Commission has announced preliminary results of the voting that took place on April 3. The final results of the elections will be known on or before April 12. According to the preliminary data Nursultan Nazarbayev, Nur Otan National Democratic Party presidential candidate, received 95.5 percent of the votes. He is followed far behind by Senator Gani Kasymov from the Party of Patriots with 1.9 percent, communist leader Zhambyl Akhmetbekov with 1.4 percent and ecologist Mels Yeleusizov who received 1.2 percent of the votes. Preliminary voter turnout stands at 89.9%, according to the Central Election Commission.
