Tengrinews.kz – Mazhilis deputy Erkin Abil published a post on social networks in which he once again spoke about maintaining a single time zone in Kazakhstan and “explained obvious things for the last time."
At the same time, Erkin Abil said that haters, "before accusing him of ignorance, should review their school course in natural history and understand time zones." His post has already received more than 900 comments.
Readers reacted negatively to the deputy's justifications for the benefits of a single time zone and entered into polemics with him, stating that he did not have enough arguments.
One commentator said that the time in Almaty should be GMT+6 and a mandatory transition to summer/winter is needed, based on human biological rhythms and to save electricity.
"What we have now is that people sleep for several hours of daylight hours. The vast majority of the population does not get up before 7-8 AM at any time, because we live in a society, not in a primitive cave. No one gets up at dawn, not even pets, because there is no opportunity to go to bed at sunset, as happened in ancient times," the commentator wrote.
Another also noted the importance of rational use of sunlight.
"The only scientifically based argument should be this - the most rational use of sunlight!!!! To do this, in Almaty it is necessary to move the clocks forward not by an hour, but by two hours, in order to bring the time of people waking up as close to sunrise as possible, and going to bed - to sunset. This is 6 AM and 9:30 - 10 PM. Only in this case will people sleep in the dark, and work and have time to do housework or spend time with children outdoors in natural light," the reader commented.
Another reader said that because of the time change to a single time zone, her children spend half of their school days in the dark, despite the fact that one child is studying in the first shift and the other in the second shift.
"We look at the time zones on the map and see that up to the 52nd meridian it should be +4, from the 52nd to the 67th meridian +5, from the 67th to the 82nd meridian +6, from the 82nd to the 97th meridian +7. It turns out that according to your map, the Kurmangazy district of the Atyrau region is in zone +3, the West in zone +4, Kostanay, Kyzylorda in zone +5, Shymkent, Almaty, Astana in zone +6 and the east of the country from Altai in zone +7. That is, geographically the country is located in 4 time zones," the commentator explained.
The issue of the balance between sleep and wakefulness was also noted.
"According to today's time, when the sun is at its zenith at 12 PM, it is midday, the middle of the day, which means that a person has 8 hours left before going to bed, if we take as a basis 16 hours of wakefulness and 8 hours of sleep. At 8 PM the country should already be asleep. And the day should begin at 4 AM in the morning. Now the schedule of life for the majority of our population is as follows, from about 6 AM in the morning until 10 PM in the evening. This is what we should proceed from, that the time should ideally be moved forward by 2 hours, so that the sun is at its zenith at 2 PM. Then there will be harmony between the sun and man. In practice, it is optimal to move the time forward an hour, as it was, and to set it forward by another hour in the summer," the commentator wrote.
Previously, Erkin Abil spoke in favor of maintaining a single time zone in Kazakhstan. As an argument, the Kostanay representative presented a map showing that all regions of the country fall within the UTC+5 time zone.
