Every fifth Kazakhstan citizen is an alcoholic and every thirteenth is a drug addict, head of Suicidology and Addictive Conditions Department of the National Research and Practice Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Narcology Center Bakytzhan Nuraliyev told Megapolis. "As of January 2012 we have officially registered 300 thousand people with alcohol abuse and 50 thousand with drug addiction. In fact these numbers can be easily multiplied by 10. That means that we have 3 million people with alcohol addiction and 500 thousand people with drug addiction," Nuraliyev said.
