Almaty, the biggest Kazakhstan’s city, is ranked 1st in terms of the average monthly expenses, with the average monthly amount standing at 91 000 tenge ($497), 5 times in excess of the subsistence level set for the region. Almaty is followed by Astana, the capital city, with the average shopping expenses standing at 61 700 tenge ($337).
The third place is held by Aktyubinsk oblast, with the average shopping expenses making up 54 000 tenge ($295), followed by East Kazakhstan Oblast with the figure standing at 34 200 tenge ($186). Karaganda oblast with the average shopping expenses of 32 500 tenge ($177) holds the last place in the top five.
South Kazakhstan Oblast has seen the lowest average monthly shopping expenses of 9 600 tenge ($52), whereas the subsistence level for the region stands at 22 500 tenge ($122).
