On April 21st, the girl was playing outside when the phone suddenly exploded in her pocket and her jeans started burning. As a result, the child received third-degree burns and was brought to a hospital for skin transplantation. There is no further information on the condition of the child.
After hearing about the incident representatives of Samsung contacted the parents of the girl to help the child and investigate the cuase of the explosion.
“We will start the investigation as soon as we get the mobile phone that caused the incident, and report the findings,” a representative of the company said after the incident.
However, the company says that they have still not received the damaged product for examination from the parents. “Earlier, the client said that they want to conduct an independent examination. But as of today, the examination has not been conducted yet and they don't not let us establish the cause for the explosion. Moreover, we haev been unable to contact the girl's parents,” a Samsung Electronics Kazakhstan representative said.
According to the company, their preliminary analysis of the photos sent by the father of the girl showed that the phone battery was the cause. But thge battery was not produced by Samsung or any of Samsung's authorized producers.
