Tengrinews.kz - The trial of 48-year-old Uzbekistan citizen Shafkat Jazilov has begun in the specialized interdistrict criminal court. He is charged under part 2 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan for "the murder of two or more individuals," according to "Moi gorod."
As stated in the indictment, Jazilov came for seasonal work in the Bogatsk village in the Bayterek district in the spring of this year. He lived in temporary housing on the territory of a farming enterprise, along with 15 other compatriots. At the end of April, a conflict arose between Jazilov and his colleague Usarov. The reason was that Usarov was informing the farm manager about everything happening at work.
"On May 9, Jazilov and ten others were celebrating a birthday. Later, a quarrel broke out between Jazilov and Usarov over breakfast. The defendant, showing aggression, entered the tent and threw an axe at Usarov but hit the mosquito net instead. Still agitated, he returned with a pitchfork and began waving it in front of Usarov until other workers took him outside," prosecutor Zhandos Dzhubanov read.
Then, according to the charges, Jazilov took a plastic gasoline canister, entered the barrack, and shouted, “I'll kill all of you!” he opened the lid of the container and threw it onto a lit gas stove. A fire erupted immediately. Four men died at the scene from their burns, and another suffered thermal burns. Usarov was not among them.
"Thus, Shafkat Jazilov committed the murder of two or more individuals in a manner dangerous to the lives of others. The prosecution is fully supported," concluded the state prosecutor.
The defendant himself stated that he disagrees with the indictment. He also waived his right to a jury trial.
