US authorities said Tuesday they arrested a man at a screening of the latest Batman movie with a bag full of weapons in a case that evoked a recent rampage in Colorado that claimed a dozen lives, AFP reports. Police in Westlake, Ohio, said an off-duty officer arrested Scott Smith, 37, late Saturday at a local cinema after he was found to be carrying a bag with a loaded Glock pistol, two extra fully-loaded magazines and three knives. He was also in possession of another knife, police said in a statement. Smith was the only person in the theater at the time. A subsequent search of Smith's home also turned up "numerous weapons and ammunition," according to police. Twelve people were killed and 58 others wounded when a gunman opened fire during a midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado, on July 20, a massacre which overshadowed the action movie's launch. Prosecutors are due to review the case to decide how to charge Smith, who hails from North Ridgeville, Ohio, in the American Midwest. Last month US police in the state of Maryland, near the capital Washington, arrested another man and seized an arsenal of weapons after he threatened his employer and raised fears he was inspired by the Colorado shooting.
