Tengrinews.kz - Solar activity intensification continues after a week-long pause, with a new high-level solar flare occurred on October 26, according to the Laboratory of X-ray astronomy of the Sun.

"The preliminary score of the event is X1.9, which is lower than the previous flare recorded here, but its impact on the planet could be significantly stronger," the laboratory noted.

They explained that the active region is gradually moving from the Sun's edge toward Earth, and its impact on Earth is rapidly increasing, with peak levels expected around Monday and Tuesday of next week.

It is noted that significant volumes of solar plasma emissions into interplanetary space have been preliminarily confirmed, and their arrival at Earth is the main cause of magnetic storms.

Earlier, scientists reported that this active region was responsible for the largest solar flare in seven years in early October. For this reason, there is potential for heightened activity, as the magnetic configuration of the area has already demonstrated its ability to accumulate and release even greater amounts of energy.

The laboratory previously reported that a powerful X-class solar flare erupted on the eastern edge of the Sun on the morning of October 24. The peak of the flare was recorded at 06:57 Moscow time.
