Kuandyk Turgankulov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), announced that 4 different organizations would be running exit polls at the snap presidential elections to be held April 3, Tengrinews.kz reports. Results of the exit polls are to be published the following day. The names of the organizations were not disclosed. In a separate statement, Mr. Turgankulov said that April 3 at about 10:30 p.m. local time the CEC would be ready to announce preliminary voter turnout, whereas preliminary results of the exit polls would be available April 4 before noon. An election exit poll is a poll of voters taken immediately after they have exited the polling stations. Pollsters – usually private companies working for newspapers or broadcasters – conduct exit polls to gain an early indication as to how an election has turned out, as in many elections the actual result may take hours or even days to count.
