Kazakhstan wins bronze in pole vault at Universiade

Kazakhstan's Nikita Filippov has won bronze in pole vault at the Universiade in Kazan, Vesti.kz reports. Filippov completed the height of 5.50 meters in his best attempt. He tried to complete 5.60 meters three times, but failed. Only Seito Yamamoto from Japan and American Gavin Kehdricks managed to take this height. The American athlete won the gold, because he used less attempts than the Japanese athlete. The bronze medal of Nikita Filippov was the 16th medal for Kazakh national team at the Universiade. Kazakhstan is in the twentieth place by the medal count. Its athletes have won the total of 15 medals at the Universiade so far: - Weightlifter Farkhad Kharkiand and athlete Margarita Mukasheva brought two gold medals to Kazakhstan. - Nine silver medals were earned by weightlifters Karina Goricheva and Aleksandr Zhaichikov, fencer Ruslan Kurbanov, boxers Rustam Rustamov and Zhan Kossobutyskiy and belt wrestlers Moldashev Dimash and Eskarkhan Oskanov, by Sergey Yemeliyanov in rowing and by Beimet Kanzhanov in sambo. - Free-style wrestlers Berdakh Primbayev and Alikhan Jumayev, boxers Yerzhan Zhomart and Nurdaulet Zharmanov, belt wrestlers Ayan Yermekbayev and Gulnur Yerbolova, athletes Yevgeniy Ektov and Nikita Filippov, Azhar Kenbeil in sambo, the national men's fencing team and the target shooting national women's team in two events took twelve bronze medals at the tournament.
