Bronze medalist of the Sochi Olympics Denis Ten was awarded a Breakthrough of the Year by the Agency of Sport and Physical Education of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports. “The (bronze) medal was an award for the country and I earned it for our country. But this is my personal award and that is why I am very happy. I performed at one of the starts with one of my skates wobbling. It is in fact very dangerous and can be life threatening. I have told the story of skating with two different skates many times. It was incredibly difficult but I’m glad I managed. When I remember the free skating program, I can say I gave it my all,” Denis said. Denis Ten won the bronze medal at the Sochi Olympics for his men's free skating. He lost to Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu (Gold) and Patrick Chan from Canada (Silver). Ten is the only member of the Kazakhstan team to bring a medal from the Sochi Olympics. The Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov presented a Chevrolet Cruze to Denis Ten for the bronze medal. At the meeting, the Head of the Agence Tastanbek Yessentayev regretfully noted that the Kazakhstan team performed worse than at the Vancouver Olympics and did not achieve the goal.
