On December 13 Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Kazakhstan Guido Hertz, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President’s official website. “Kazakhstan-German relations have intensified in the past 3 years. They were promoted by the official visits of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Germany in February 2009 and German Councilor Angela Merkel to Kazakhstan in July 2010. The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany and the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan were a success. These events were aimed at further mutual enrichment and interpenetration of the cultures of the two peoples. Cooperation in different sectors of the economy, science and education has been developing successfully,” the President’s website writes. Kanat Saudabayev thanked German government for active support of Kazakhstan during its chairmanship in the OSCE. The parties discussed the prospects of further enhancement of cooperation between the countries and reviewed the issues related to Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visit to Germany scheduled for the beginning of 2012, the President’s press-service reports.
