Darkhan Satybaldy was appointed the new Akim (Mayor) of Shymkent, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the city administration.
The new mayor was introduced to the deputies and future colleagues at the joint Maslikhat (local executive body) meeting on May 27. Previous Akim of the southern Kazakhstan city Kairat Moldasseitov resigned because of health problems.
Satybaldy was born on March 26, 1974 in Abai village in South-Kazakhstan oblast. He was a businessman from 1996 to 1999 and started his career as a state worker in 2002. His previous position was deputy head of the Prime-Minister’s office.
46-y.o. Molasseitov served as Akim of Shymkent since April 24, 2012.
