Tengrinews.kz - In 2022, amendments were made to the Law "On Automobile Transport" prohibiting the movement of dump trucks with a mass exceeding the permissible standards on public roads and city streets. These requirements will come into force on January 1, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Transport, about 60 thousand dump trucks are registered in Kazakhstan, of which 40 thousand are made in China. Many of them transport inert cargo with a double excess of the permissible load. With a permissible load of 25 tons, drivers transport 35-40 tons.
Excess weight leads to premature destruction of the road surface. In addition to dump trucks, other heavy vehicles - concrete mixers, truck cranes, and special equipment - move on the highways, creating additional load on the asphalt.
In December 2022, a law was adopted regulating the installation and operation of automated measuring stations. Trucks weighing more than 12 tons are now required to undergo weighing control.
To strengthen control, 6 new automated stations have already been installed at the entrance to the capital. They are currently operating in test mode, but their number will be increased in the future.
According to the transport department, these measures will help reduce road congestion and minimize corruption risks in the field of transport control.
We remind you that failure to comply with the rules can lead to serious fines and even administrative measures. It is prohibited:
- driving without a state number;
- ignoring the requirements of transport control inspectors entails liability;
- compliance with traffic rules and work and rest regimes is mandatory;
- overloading is prohibited - fines are provided for exceeding weight standards.
The amount of the fine depends on the degree of excess axle load and the category of the carrier's business. The amounts vary from 40 to 1000 MCI (147 thousand - 3.7 million tenge).
