Tengrinews.kz - The number of accidents involving mopeds and electric scooters in Almaty continues to grow, which poses a serious threat not only to the drivers themselves but also to pedestrians, according to Polisia.kz.
As in many large cities around the world, the popularity of alternative transport - mopeds and electric scooters - is growing in Almaty, which directly affects the accident situation.
"I am sure that you yourself witness daily how the number of these vehicles increases day after day in the metropolis. Moped drivers often violate traffic rules, which leads to an increase in accidents. Moped riders, for example, often make dangerous maneuvers, such as abrupt braking or rear-end maneuvers, creating a threat to pedestrians and car drivers.
The lack of discipline and culture among many moped and scooter owners exacerbates the problem since they do not always comply with basic safety requirements, which leads to accidents and injuries on the roads," said Serik Shumayev, head of the local police department of the Almaty city police department.

Recall: All mopeds must be registered in Kazakhstan by April 5, 2025. As of today, around 3700 mopeds have been registered in Kazakhstan, with approximately 1400 of them in Almaty. In the Pavlodar region, 77 mopeds have been registered.
