Tengrinews.kz - In Kazakhstan, individuals accompanying people with special needs will be able to purchase train tickets at a 50 percent discount, the Ministry of Transport announced.
The ministry has proposed several amendments to passenger transportation regulations. One of the key changes includes introducing a 50-percent discount on railway tickets for those accompanying individuals with disabilities in the first and second categories, as well as for those assisting children with special needs.
Additionally, passengers with special needs will no longer be required to present supporting documents or medical certificates when boarding a train.
"The verification process will be simplified. The requirement to provide supporting certificates and documents will be removed from the passenger transportation regulations. Instead, the information will be automatically verified through a specialized database. This measure aims to protect the rights of people with special needs," the ministry's press service stated.
The proposed changes are currently under review and are expected to take effect in the second half of 2025.
As a reminder, a 50-percent discount on socially significant routes is already available to individuals with disabilities of all groups.
