Kazakhstan soldier who died during liberation of Vienne in 1945 identified in Austria

Kazakhstan soldier who died during liberation of Vienne in 1945 has been identified in Austria, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry. “The ceremony of burial of the remains of the Soviet soldiers who died in the battles for liberation of Austria from German aggressors was held in Hartberg. During the ceremony, head of the land department of Austrian public organization Black Cross Diter Allesh greeted the representatives of the embassies of Russia and Kazakhstan, as the soldiers turned out to be from these two ex-soviet countries, Archpriest Vladimir Tyshuk and the representative of the district Austrian army Gerhard Shweiger. Kazakhstan warrior Akhmetbek Tleulessov was identified among the others. He was born in 1917 in Aksu region of Almaty oblast and heroically died on April 29, 1945,” the message states. In the Austrian capital the employees of Kazakhstan embassy and Military Attache office and their colleagues from CIS countries took part in the ceremony timed to the anniversary of liberation of Austria from fascist aggressors. The wreath were traditionally laid at the memorial to Soviet warriors at Schwarzenbergplatz square in the center of Vienne. The memorial to Soviet soldiers was erected in 1945 and resembles a symbol of liberation from Nazism. The memorial is under international legal protection. According to the treaty on restoration of democratic and independent Austria dated May 15, 1955, the country is obliged to respect and protect the military fame memorials to the armies battling against Hitler’s army at the territory of Austria. The Soviet Army lost over 100 thousand people during Vienne military operation on March 16 to April 15, 1945. By Maksim Popov
