Kazakhstan's first Olympic lisence for wrestling

Kazakhstani wrestler Doszhan Kartikov has earned the first Olympic license at the World Championship in Las Vegas, Tengrinews reports.

Kazakhstani wrestler Doszhan Kartikov has earned the first Olympic license at the World Championship in Las Vegas, Tengrinews reports.

During the qualifying stage, Kartikov defeated Dmitriy Pyskov (4:2)  from Ukraine in -75 kg weight division. Later, the Kazakhstani won against Igor Besleaga from Moldova (6:0). In the following stage, Kartikov defeated the Olympic Champion and World Champion Kim Hyeon-woo from South Korea with (4:2). In the quarterfinals, the Kazakhstani lost to the Olympic Champion Roman Vlasov from Russia (0:7).

Kartikov along with other top 6 competitors of the World Championship won license to represent his country at the Summer Olympics in Rio. The World Championship is the first qualifier for the Olympics.

The 2016 Olympic Games will be taking place from August 5 to 21 in Rio de Janeiro.
