A-Lau duet from Aktau got a pass into the international contest for young pop singers called New Wave 2011. The duet will perform a Kazakh national song Ak Bakai on the second day of the contest. The young girls will also sing a soundtrack to Dream Girls movie called Move and an original song Arigato written by Ukrainian song-writers specially for the duet, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the duet's manager Olga Khnykina. “After A-Lau singers Aktoty Azhigulova and Laura Artelbel won their first contest for young pop singers New Wave Junior (Moscow) in 2008, composer and producer Igor Krutoy said he hoped to see the girls at the adult version of the New Wave. The duo was working in this direction for the next three years until Aktoty turned 16. This is the age when one can participate in the New Wave,” Khnykina said. In the selection tournament before the 10th anniversary New Wave the girls had to win the pass from over 100 other participants. They got into top seven Kazakhstan singers and received the pass to Jurmala after semi-finals in Moscow. The New Wave 2011 is an international contest for young pop singers traditionally held in Jurmala, Latvia. This year the contest celebrates its 10th anniversary. The idea to start the talent hunting contest belongs to composers Igor Krutoy and Raymond Pauls. Performers aged from 16 to 30 from 16 countries take part in the contest ever year. 16 participants will come to Jurmala 10 days prior to the contest opening on July 26, 2011. A gala-concert will be held on July 31 when the winners will be announced. By Zhuldyz Seisenbekova
