Kazakhstan bans import of cars manufactured before 2005

Euro-4 ecological standard will be introduced at the territory of Kazakhstan on July 1, 2013. Import (registration) of cars manufactured before 2005 and complying with Euro-3 standard or lower will be banned, Auto.lafa.kz writes. The period of introduction of Euro-4 was changed by Kazakhstan government decree on February 6, 2013, the press-service of Almaty Customs Control Department stated. Euro-4 ecological class will be introduced for Kazakhstan-made cars starting from January 1, 2014. Euro-4 is the ecological standard regulating content of polluting substances in exhaust gases. It was introduced in EU in 2005 and replaced with a new standard Euro-5 in 2009.
