Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally saw off Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Astana airport.

Earlier in the day, Tokayev and Meloni took part in a special session of the Astana International Forum. Meloni delivered a speech on the current geopolitical situation and regional cooperation, also outlining the goals of her visit to Kazakhstan.
Later, she was officially welcomed at the Akorda residence. Tokayev and Meloni introduced members of their respective delegations before holding bilateral talks. The two sides discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
The talks continued in an extended format with both national delegations. President Tokayev highlighted the close political dialogue between Kazakhstan and Italy, their strong economic partnership, and growing cultural and humanitarian ties.
Following the negotiations, the two sides adopted a joint statement on expanding the strategic partnership.
Meloni was received in accordance with Kazakh hospitality traditions. President Tokayev presented her with a traditional chapan.
Also on Friday, the "Central Asia - Italy" summit was held in Astana. During the event, Tokayev expressed confidence that the synergy created through the "Central Asia Plus" format would lay the foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation between regional countries and Italy. The President proposed opening an Italian trade house in Almaty and invited Italian universities to establish a presence in Kazakhstan.
