Tengrinews.kz – Following high-level talks between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the two countries signed a series of agreements aimed at expanding their strategic cooperation.
The official delegations exchanged the following documents:
- Agreement on the readmission of persons between Kazakhstan and Italy;
- Joint statement on cooperation in critical minerals and raw materials between
- Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Construction and Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and “Made in Italy,” as well as the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security;
- Memorandum of cooperation between Samruk-Kazyna and Maire Tecnimont;
- Cooperation agreement between Samruk-Kazyna and Ansaldo;
- Memorandum on water management collaboration between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and OICE;
- Joint declaration between the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti S.p.A., and SACE SpA;
- Memorandum of understanding between Samruk-Energy and SACE SpA;
- Memorandum of cooperation between Kazakh Invest and the Italian Trade Agency.
Giorgia Meloni arrived in Kazakhstan on May 29 for an official visit invited by President Tokayev, who personally welcomed her at Astana’s airport.
Meloni is Italy’s first female prime minister, leader of the Brothers of Italy party, and a key figure in the European Conservatives and Reformists Group.
During a special session at the Astana International Forum, Meloni emphasized that her visit is substantive, aimed at strengthening the friendship and strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy.
