Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a brief conversation at the Astana airport, according to the press service of Akorda.
“It is a great honor for us to welcome you on a visit to Kazakhstan. I am confident that the upcoming talks will play an important — and possibly key — role in giving a new boost to our bilateral relations. Italy is one of Kazakhstan’s leading trade partners in Europe. Yesterday and today, a business forum was held in Astana with the participation of numerous Italian entrepreneurs. We greatly value your efforts in promoting business ties between our countries,” said Tokayev.
“I am very happy to visit your country for the first time. As you mentioned, our countries have developed very good relations, but there is always room for more. We view Kazakhstan as a very important partner for both Italy and Europe. Moreover, the Central Asian region has now acquired strategic significance. Thank you for organizing the first ‘Italy – Central Asia’ summit at the level of heads of state. I believe this summit could become historic in our relations with the region. In these challenging times, it is very important for us to strengthen cooperation on all levels,” said Meloni.
Giorgia Meloni arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit on Thursday, May 29. Tokayev personally greeted her at Astana airport with a bouquet of pink peonies. The two sides plan to discuss prospects for the development of Kazakh-Italian strategic partnership.
