It was reported that as part of ensuring the protection and security of the state border, the Border Service of NSC, in cooperation with competent authorities, held more than 55,000 violators accountable in 2024, including: 324 foreign nationals for border violations and 383 foreign nationals for attempting border violations.
A total of 15,041 incidents of illegal border crossings were prevented, including:
- 451 cases of drug trafficking (over 2,300 kilograms);
- 886 cases involving weapons and ammunition;
- 455 cases of religious literature (24,087 copies);
- 5,283 cases of fuel smuggling, totaling over 160 million tenge;
- 6,086 cases of consumer goods smuggling, totaling over 70 billion tenge;
- 1,880 cases of currency smuggling, totaling over 19 billion tenge.
390 cases of poaching in the Caspian Sea were stopped, and the following items were seized:
- 196 vessels;
- 536 kilometers of illegal fishing nets;
- 1,994 sturgeon fish (11,379 kilograms);
- 87,814 fish of other species (98,296 kilograms);
- 117 seals.
The total prevented damage amounted to approximately 4.6 billion tenge. Materials related to these cases were sent to law enforcement and judicial authorities for further action against the violators.
