Tengrinews.kz - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Lepekha has shared new details about moped registration in Kazakhstan.
According to Lepekha, 18,200 mopeds have been officially registered in the country so far.
"No one knows the exact total number. Last year, 22,000 licenses for this category were issued, and this year, 2,500 more. But some might have obtained a license without owning a moped. For now, only registered mopeds will be allowed on the roads—others will have to stay put," he said in the Mazhilis.
Lepekha reminded owners that the mandatory registration deadline is just a few days away and urged them to act quickly.
"We’ve asked Public Service Centers (PSCs) to extend their working hours to accommodate everyone. After the deadline, unregistered moped owners won’t be able to ride legally," he emphasized.
As for the consequences of failing to register, Lepekha stated that unregistered mopeds will be impounded.
"Once the owner completes the proper paperwork, they’ll be allowed to use their moped," he concluded.
Earlier, Tengrinews.kz covered whether a special license category is required for moped riders.
