Tengrinews.kz – Member of the Mazhilis Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov has called for stronger measures against the LGBT movement in Kazakhstan.
According to the deputy, recent years have seen an increase in the activity of organizations on social media that, in his view, promote values contrary to national traditions, including LGBT-related content. He referred to this trend as a negative shift.
"The predictions of our ancestors, Manke Bi and Mashkhur Zhusup, are coming true - our future generations may change for the worse. At the National Kurultai in Borovoye, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev clearly stated: 'For decades, so-called democratic moral values, including LGBT, were imposed on many countries by international NGOs and organizations. Under this banner, they interfered in the internal affairs of many nations,'" Ashimzhanov said while reading his official inquiry.
The deputy believes that promoting what he described as 'alien values' could weaken Kazakh society.
"They use TikTok and other platforms to push young people toward immoral behavior. Obviously, children and teenagers cannot yet distinguish between right and wrong. They are psychologically immature and morally vulnerable, making them easy targets for insidious propaganda using modern technologies. These actions violate children's rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child," he added.
Ashimzhanov also claimed that such activities are funded from abroad.
"They interfere in the internal affairs of our country and promote ideas foreign to our national identity by granting funds to NGOs working in this field. This creates division in society and threatens our state. For example, an organization called 'Feminita' was allegedly sending messages in school chats, inviting children to events where they promised to talk about sex and 'teach them to be homosexual or lesbian,'" he stated.
The MP called for stricter regulation of social media, the completion and publication of a study by the Ministry of Culture and Information on the impact of LGBT content on minors, the development of a national concept to reinforce traditional moral values, and a ban on foreign-funded NGOs working with children.
Previously, in October, fellow MP Rinat Zaitov also described LGBT and feminist communities as a 'threat seeking to destroy our youth', citing the Kazakhstani feminist initiative 'Feminita' as an example.
