Over half of E-government users are people aged 25-40, Minister of Information Askar Zhumagaliyev wrote in his blog. “55% of the users are aged 25-40 years old. Those aged 27 make up the biggest number”, he said. “Despite the widely spread opinion that IT is a prerogative of the young, there are quite many people aged 45-50 that also seek for an access to public services without having to queue. This age bracket makes up 21%”, the Minister elaborated. According to him, people over 55 years old total 5.3% of all the users. In terms of gender, women make up 50.5%. “In terms of geography, Almaty accounts for 17% of all the users, followed by Astana (14%), Karaganda (11%) and Mangistau (2%)”, the Minister said. According to him, the e-gov portal has handled a total of 8 000 000 requests. Daily number of hits stands at 25 000.
