On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (State railroad company) has launched a new passenger train No.47/48 cruising from Astana to Atyrau, KazTAG reported. The train started operating on May 31.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy purchased 22 coaches made by Tver Carriage Construction Plant. This gave the company's outdated rolling stock 12 new compartment coaches, 8 new couchette coaches and 2 special compartment coaches for handicapped passengers and accompanying persons.
The coaches are equipped with control, management and diagnostics systems, GPRS and satellite, air conditioning, video and audio transmission systems, security and communications control, access control and security systems, fire alarms and shower booths.
The couches are also equipped with lifts for loading and unloading passengers in wheelchairs. Besides the coaches for handicapped are equiped with a places for wheelchair, handrails and information displays.
