Tengrinews.kz - The Bureau of National Statistics has published data on the population of Kazakhstan as of December 1, 2024.
According to the bureau, on December 1, Kazakhstan's population was 20,265,320 people. Compared to the beginning of 2024, the population increased by 231,478 people. The natural population growth was 217,133 people, and the migration balance was 14,345 people.
Kazakhstan has three cities with a population of over a million: Almaty (2,286,328 people), Astana (1,520,756 people), and Shymkent (1,253,280 people). Among the regions, those with over a million residents include Turkestan (2,154,304 people), Almaty (1,557,932 people), Zhambyl (1,222,411 people), and Karaganda (1,134,002 people) regions.
The majority of Kazakhstani people live in urban areas - 12,629,615 people. There are 7,519,966 people living in rural areas.
