Seven people have suffered thermal burns when a shell exploded at Orat railroad station in Zhambyl oblast, Kazakhstan’s Senior Military Prosecutor’s Office writes. All injured persons were hospitalized. The accident happened at 05:10 p.m. on August 27 at the territory of KazakhVzryvprom during utilization of ammunition. “The explosion happened during utilization of 122mm blank cartridges in a de-cartridging bloc,” the message states. The area of 18 square meters caught fire as a result of the explosion. The fire was extinguished in less then 30 minutes by 8 firefighters and 2 vehicles. The military prosecution office give the names of the victims: G.S. Segayev (born in 1987), A.A. Momutov (born in 1987), B.K. Baitelinov (born in 1985), A.S. Berdaliyev (born in 1964), K.Zh. Muzdybayev (born 1979), Zh. Yessenbayeva (born in 1977), K. Kynauarbekova (born in 1993), A. Aldabergenov (born in 1988). Two of the injured died in a hospital shortly after, the press-secretary of the prosecutor’s office Akbar Abdildin said: “Aldabergenov and Yessembayeva died without regaining consciousness. Sagiyev is currently in very grave condition,” he said at the briefing. The prosecutors initiated a criminal case over "violation of safety rules at potentially explosion facilities causing death or other heavy consequences".
