Kazakhstan under extreme cold weather alert

Kazakhstan national weather service KazHydroMet has issued a extreme cold weather warning for 11 Kazakhstan Oblasts for January 4-6, Tengrinews reports. According to the weather service, a considerable drop in temperature is expected in Kostanay, Aktobe, Akmola, North Kazakhstan and Pavlodar Oblasts on Januray 4-5, in Karaganda Oblast on January 4-6 and later in South Kazakhstan Oblast on January 5-6. The temperature is going drop to -30-35 degrees Centigrade at night and stay at -23-28 degrees Centigrade during daytime with a possible drop to -31C during daytime. The cold front moving from the northern parts through Central Kazakhstan will affect Kyzylorda Oblast, in southern Kazakhstan, as well. On January 4 to 6, the temperature will drop to -20-25 C at night, -15-20 during the day. The weather may be freezing in some place with temperature down to -30C at night and -23C during the day. The warning also covers Almaty, Zhambyl and South Kazakhstan Oblasts. The temperature will be at -15-20 and -25 in some places at night on January 5-6. During the day, the thermometers will show around -10-15C.
