A bridge has been washed out by rainwater in East Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of East-Kazakhstan oblast Emergency Situations Department. The water level in Keldymurat river in Keldymurat village increased after heavy rains and the bridge could not hold against the big volume of rainwater, the press-service said. “In the end the river spilled from its banks causing a washaway of a local asphalt road connecting Keldymurat village with the regional center. The washaway is 10 meters wide and 2 meters deep,” the press-service wrote. The access to the village is made via Kokterek village and there is no flood threat there. Besides, a big flow of rainwater caused a washout of a water sluice of the local road in Karatum village. “The washout is 12 meters wide and 2 meters deep. The access to the regional center is made via a bypass road,” the department stated. “The repair and restoration works will start after the water level returns to normal.”
