Tengrinews.kz – The deadline for paying the vehicle tax for 2024 for individuals is April 1. This was reported by the Almaty Department of State Revenue.
"The deadline for paying the vehicle tax for individuals for 2024 is April 1 of this year. In case of non-payment on time, a penalty will be charged for each day of delay," the department stated.
The amount of tax to be paid must be calculated independently using the calculator in the e-Salyq Azamat mobile application or on the website of the State Revenue Committee.
After March 15, car owners will receive a pre-calculated tax amount as push notifications in second-tier bank applications. The tax can also be paid through banking apps and via Kazpost JSC.
According to the State Revenue Department, by the end of 2024, 456,000 individuals in Almaty owned 764,000 vehicles. Compared to 2023, their number increased by 7 percent, and the total amount of the corresponding tax rose from 19.6 billion to 21.9 billion tenge.
Consequences of failing to pay vehicle tax
If the tax is not paid on time, tax authorities apply enforcement measures, including issuing notifications of tax debt, issuing tax orders for debt collection, and sending them to private bailiffs for enforcement. In turn, bailiffs may impose measures against debtors, such as freezing assets and bank accounts, as well as restricting travel outside the country. Additionally, debtors will be unable to access banking services, open bank accounts, make transfers, apply for loans, and more.
For any questions regarding vehicle tax, Kazakhstanis should contact the local State Revenue Office at their place of residence.
