Kazakhstan residents will be able to learn the Kazakh language by installing a new application on their Nokia mobile phones.
There are millions of people who need such a translation service. This means that such a service should be made available: Vladimir Dolgov, Google Russia General Director.
Kazakhstan Communications and Information Ministry’s website announced results of the public opinion poll on what books by foreign authors should be translated to Kazakh language.
Linguists have shortlisted Latin-based Kazakh alphabet versions to 4, with the number of letters varying from 29 to 33.
The issue calls for public discussion. Readiness of the society [for the change] as a whole should be taken into account: Culture Ministry’s Executive Secretary Zhanna Kurmangaliyeva.
The speculations were caused by amendments allegedly drafted by the country’s Culture Ministry.
