Massimov congratulated participants of expedition on ascending K2

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov congratulated participants of the international expedition on the successful ascent of K2 (Chogori) 8-thousander. “I congratulate the alpinists who ascended K2 and wish them a successful return to the base camp,” PM wrote in his Twitter. Earlier Tengrinews.kz Englishreported that Kazakh alpinists Vassiliy Pivtsov and Maksut Zhumayev ascended K2 on August 23 as part of an international expedition. They climbed the northern face of Chogori. Gerlinda Kaltenbrunner from Austria and Darek Zalusky from Poland reach the height of 8,611 meters together with the two Kazakh climbers. German alpinist Ralf Dujmovits and Argentinean operator Tommy Heinrich were watching the ascent from the base camp.
