Kazakhstani chess princess Zhansaya Abdumalik has won the third place at the Asian Continental Chess Championship Open woman’s division at Sharjah Chess Club in the UAE, Tenginrews reports citing Vesti.kz.
23 chess players took part in the woman’s division. Zhansaya Abdumalik was the only representative of Kazakhstan. In the man’s division, 37 chess player were competing for the first place. Grand master Rinat Zhumabayev and a young promising chess player Assad Mamyrbai represented Kazakhstan in the man’s division.
The unbeaten Chinese chess player Tan Zhongyi won the title with eight points in the women’s division.14-y.o Abdumalik ended up with 6.5 points and the third place losing to grand masters Harika Dronavalli who also had 6.5 points. Abdumalik was 15th in the championship rating.
The organizers of the championship were impressed with young Kazakhstani chess player who won the third place.
In man’s division, Kazakhstani chess players were less successful.
The Asian Continental Chess Championship Open division ends on April 26th.
