Denis Kuzin awarded with 2-bedroom apartment

An unknown sponsor gave a 2-bedroom apartment to speedskater Denis Kuzin who arrived in Kostanay on April 3, Tengrinews.kz reports. Besides, oblast Akim (Governor) Nuraly Saduakassov presented 400 thousand tenge ($2,700) to Kuzin and 160 thousand tenge ($1,070) to his coach Pyotr Pastushenko on behalf of Kostanay oblast department of tourism, physical culture and sport. The sponsor also gave Kuzin’s coach 1.5 million tenge ($10 thousand). Congratulating the honored couch of Kazakhstan on the victory of his sportsman, Akim said that the administration will consider giving him a title of the Honored Resident of Kostanay. “We have checked into the history. Germans, Americans and Dutch are usually the (speedskating) champions. It is for the first time that a citizen of Kazakhstan became the champion. It is difficult to win a medal in speedskating sport and at such distances. The competition is tough. There were no such victories in Kazakhstan sport,” Akim said. Denis Kuzin of Kazakhstan won the gold medal at the Speedskating World Cup. This was the first time an athlete from Kazakhstan won a speedskating worlds gold. Kuzin won the 1,000m race in Sochi. He covered the distance in 1 minute and 9.14 seconds.
