Kazakhstan fashion designers are seriously considering development of the line of Islamic clothes in Kazakhstan after the Islamic Fashion Festival held as part of the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) that was attended by designers from Malaysia. Kazakhstan designer Kuralai Nurkadilova, who presented her collection called Nissa, has launched a new clothes line Kuralai Muslim, which she will present on June 27 in the Presidential Cultural Center in Astana at the fashion show called Best Islamic Collection: National Style. Recently her dress was purchased by a Saudi Arabian princess in Paris, Nurkadilova told Tengrinews.kz. Common understanding of Islamic clothes is that it is the clothes of dark and flat colors covering a person from head to toes. This is how everyone is used to seeing women of Islamic countries. Kuralai Nurkadilova is breaking these stereotypes speaking of necessity in bright colors in clothes of Kazakhstan Muslim women. These are clothes of bright-yellow, red, maroon, blue, as well as Electra and cornflower colors. Kazakhstan fashion designers had several experience exchange sessions with their Malaysian peers. This experience yet again showed that Muslim clothes can be beautiful and stylish. These women can wear high heels and pants and use perfume as well. The idea to create a line of Muslim clothes appeared long time ago. Production of the first line of Kuralai brand clothes was launched since that time. The second lot is being prepared to be released on June 24 in Almaty. The clothes will cost from between 20,000 and 80,000 tenge ($140 to $550). “For sure, the society still has many questions about wearing Muslim clothes. What is the correct way of combining clothes so that it is both beautiful and trendy and follows the rules? The clothes doesn't have to close the body, but to cover it. Besides casual and evening gown, Kuralai Muslim line also includes pants suits, rompers and new head wear,” Nurkadilova said. By Zhuldyz Seisenbekova
