Ukraine shuts down consulate in Kazakhstan

Ukraine has shut down nine of its consulates throughout the world including the one in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports referring to the Press Secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kazakhstan Irina Blaschuk.


Ukraine has shut down nine of its consulates throughout the world including the one in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports referring to the Press Secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kazakhstan Irina Blaschuk.

"The Consulate General has been closed in Almaty since November 1. Reception of citizens is no longer carried out. It was the decision of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister,” she said.

The consulate section of the Ukrainian Embassy in Astana will take over the tasks and functions of the consulate in Almaty.  

Apart from Kazakhstan, Ukraine closed its consulates in Suceava (Romania), Presov (Slovakia), Varna (Bulgaria), Marseille (France), Batumi (Georgia), Nizhny Novgorod (Russia), Haifa (Israel) and Curitiba (Brazil).
