Nazarbayev to take part in nuclear security summit in New York

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in UN nuclear disarmament conference in New York in September, KazTAG reports citing Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Miroslav Jenča. “Mr.Minister and I discussed the issues related to nuclear disarmament. The nuclear security summit will be very important and Kazakhstan President will take part in it in New York. It will be held under supervision of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon", Jenča said after a meeting with Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov. According to the Foreign Ministry, the conference will be held in New York in September and the President received an invitation to take part in it. Earlier Nursultan Nazarbayev and US President Barack Obama discussed nuclear security over the phone. Special attention was given to nonprofileration of weapons of mass destruction, as well as to implementation of Kazakhstan President's initiatives, including the ones mentioned at the Nuclear Security Summit in April 2010 in Washington.
