Nazarbayev told foreign investors about the prospects of Kazakhstan tourism, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Development of business activities and services for foreign citizens in Almaty will help create additional conditions for establishing a tourist hub around the city. We are finishing up a feasibility study for construction of a ski resort in Zailiyskiy Alatau next to Almaty in the mountains. Proximity to the largest city and its hotels, short drive to the resorts and long period of snow in the mountains make the development of this tourist center very feasible. A major part of the investments will be channeled into development of ski resorts for winter leisure and Kapchagai lake that is located not far from the city,” Kazakhstan President said at the 25th plenary session of the Council of Foreign Investors. “Besides, highly potential Balkhash and Alakol lakes are quite close as well. Development Aktau port at the Caspian Sea and oil-services around the Caspian fields would help boost construction of the neighboring Kenderli sea resort. We are working on simplifying our visa regime to support development of tourism. The Foreign Ministry is working on cancellation of visa requirements for another 34 countries. We have heard your remarks about the work of the customs control service and we are currently actively working on making a green corridor for our major investors. Innovative companies will be established to render services for major companies,” the President said before talking about the future of Almaty. By Renat Tashkinbayev
