Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry has condemned North Korean nuclear test, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Ministry’s statement. The statement says that the nuclear tests have a negative effect on the nuclear disarmament process and pose a threat to the regional and global security. “Having survived the destructive consequences of nuclear tests, our country initiated the International Day against Nuclear Tests that was acknowledged by the UN. In this relation Kazakhstan stands for immediate recommencement of the six-sided negotiations on North Korean nuclear program and calls Pyongyang to abandon any steps that may lead to escalation of the tension,” the Ministry writes. On February 12 North Korea officially announced that it staged its most powerful nuclear test. According to some information, the capacity of the compact nuclear explosion made around 5 kilotons. South Korea has initiated an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council that is currently being held in New York.
