Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan spoke to the journalists about why they had been asked to leave the meeting room, Tengrinews.kz correspondent reports. It has been reported earlier today that during the meeting with the CEC head of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission Ambassador Daan Everts asked the CEC to continue the meeting without the attending journalists. As a result media representatives had to be ushered to the door in the very beginning of the meeting. Bakhyt Meldeshov explained that not wanting to offend the foreign observers the Central Election Commission had to comply with their wish. He said that nothing that constitutes a secret was discussed during that meeting and that the observers were just getting to know the progress of the election campaign. Nevertheless the group of foreign election observances eventually left the CEC quarters without any further contact with the journalists.
