Russian plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 arrived at the international exhibition of armament and military technical property KADEX-2012 in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing KazSpetsExport, the organizer of the fair. According to President of the Joint Aircraft Corporation and the chairman of the Board of Sukhoi company Mikhail Pogosyan, Superjet's tour of South-East Asia starts in Kazakhstan. “South-East Asia is one of the key markets and Astana is the first destination of the plane in the tour of South-East Asian countries. We are not planning to sign the contract with Kazakhstan yet, but we consider Kazakhstan market and CIS market the most promising market for our plane. Superjet optimally complies with the requirements for its class of planes in South-East Asia: optimal combination of efficiency, prices, comfort and maintenance cost. I think that this tour will attract a lot of customers,” Pogosyan said in an interview to Vesti-24 TV-channel. According to the channel, Superjet costs around $35 million. Besides, Mikhail Pogosyan stated that Kazakhstan will be interested in another plane presented at the show: MiG-29M2. “Kazakhstan Air Forces, just like Russian Air Forces, are currently coming to the stage of mass modification of its fleet of aircrafts manufactured in the 1980s. We think that demonstration of MiG-29M2 will show our Kazakhstan colleagues the capabilities of modern aviation complexes. We have good prospects amid modernization of the aircraft fleet in Kazakhstan,” Pogosyan said. On May 2 Deputy Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Talgat Zhanzhumenov confirmed that 8 military airplanes Airbus C-295 will come into the service of the Ministry. “Next year the aviation fleet of Kazakhstan will be enriched with Airbus C-295 aircrafts. First two airplanes will be supplied in the beginning of the next year. They are currently being assembled at the factories in Spain. Kazakhstan Defense Ministry signed a memorandum with this concern on supplies of 8 planes to Kazakhstan,” Zhanzhumenov said. C-295 is a mulch-functional military transport aircraft. Its flying range is 5,500 km and bearing capacity is 9 tons or 73 militarymen. It can also be re-equipped into a medical plane for transportation of 41 injured. C-295 are used by Air Forces of 12 countries. The new aircraft is aimed to replace old AN-26 plane in Kazakhstan Air Forces. The plane is also exhibited at the fair. The average cost of C-295 is around $40 million. By Renat Tashkinbayev
