Two more quakes hit Almaty region

Two more quakes hit Almaty region on May 3 and 4. On May 3 a 3.9-magnitude quake hit at 5:33 p.m., European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported. As per the seismologists, the epicenter was 73 km north-east of Almaty. The quake was felt in Malovodnoye and Issyk villages. No casualties are reported. On May 4 the quake hit at 08:25 a.m.. The shock had a magnitude of 2-3, Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry reported. The epicenter was 75 km north-east of Almaty. The shocks were also felt in Malovodnoye and Turgen villages. No casualties are reported. The first and strongest shock in the resent series of quakes in Almaty oblast was registered three days ago, on May 1. It was 5.4 in magnitude. The overall number of sensible shocks on May 1-2 made 10, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Center. Epicenters of two of these shocks were below Kapshagai artificial lake. Their magnitude was 4.9 and 4.7. Another two epicenters were near the lake (4.0 and 4.2 in magnitude). The strongest 5.4-magnitude quake hit on May 1 at 08:31 a.m. and had several aftershocks.
