President Nazarbayev meets UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in Kiev

At the international summit on safe and innovative use of nuclear energy held in Kiev, Ukraine, President Nazarbayev met UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon, President’s website reports. At the talks, the sides discussed cooperation of Kazakhstan with the UN Organization, prospects of further development of bilateral relations and the current situation in Central Asia. Besides, President Nazarbayev met European Commission President Jose Barroso. The latter congratulated President Nazarbayev on his victory at the presidential elections held in April and reiterated that Astana is a strategic partner of the EU in Central Asia. President Nazarbayev met his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich. The leaders dwelt on economic cooperation.
