Tengrinews.kz - Security measures for coniferous trees have been strengthened in Kazakhstan's largest national park.
In anticipation of the holiday season, Katon-Karagai National Park inspectors have increased protection for young coniferous trees.
"To prevent illegal logging, mobile teams involving law enforcement officers will be deployed starting December 1," stated the Committee for Forestry and Wildlife.
The national park is renowned for its diverse natural landscapes, with forests - comprising both coniferous and deciduous trees - covering 40% of its territory. These forests are considered a treasure of the Southern Altai region. The park is located in the East Kazakhstan region.
Additionally, Katon-Karagai National Park has been recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2014 and is part of the transboundary UNESCO Biosphere Reserve "Great Altai," established in 2017.
Earlier, a camera trap set up in the Katon-Karagai State National Park captured footage of rare inhabitants.
